Paradigm Shifts

ree

I lost my daughter Nicole to ovarian cancer when she was 28 years old. I put this out there as my first post because Nicole's death caused a paradigm shift in my world, one that almost obliterates every other major event in my life and sent me down a path I never would have taken had she lived.

This photos was taken on Christmas Eve 2008, the night I realized something was seriously wrong. She was diagnosed a month later and was gone almost two years to the day later.

So much has happened since that Christmas Eve in 2008, and it does not escape me that all the good in my life right now is a direct result of her death. After years of debilitating grief, Nicole kicked me in the ass, and I began to learn gratitude, living in the moment, and joy.

More to come about surviving grief in a later post.
